How We Collaborate
Rapid Response Teams
When urgent policy challenges emerge, we quickly assemble cross-institutional teams combining DMU expertise with external partners. Our Ukraine Recovery Initiative mobilized 58 researchers within weeks to address the reconstruction needs identified by The Royal Society’s Ukraine Recovery Conference Report.
Knowledge Networks
We maintain active networks across disciplines and sectors. Our Police Collaboration Initiative connects 60 policing professionals and academics, and our broader DMU policy network engages over 100 DMU staff with external policy actors.
Co-Production Approach
We don’t just deliver research to policymakers, we work with them from day one. Government officials, civil servants, and practitioners help shape research questions, methodologies, and outputs to ensure real-world relevance.
Exchange Programs
Through our Visiting Policy Fellows Programme, we host civil servants and policy experts within the unit, while placing DMU researchers in government departments for hands-on policy experience.
