Our DMU Visiting Policy Fellows

The De Montfort University Visiting Policy Fellowship hosts exceptional scholars, practitioners, pracademics, and policy professionals from around the world to advance research informed policymaking. Our fellows engage in transformative research & knowledge exchange, collaborate with academics and policymakers, and contribute to addressing critical challenges in areas such as policing, post-crisis recovery, and equitable education. Through their work with DMU’s Policy Unit, they bridge the gap between scholarship and policy impact, enriching our intellectual community while shaping policy at local, national, and international levels. Meet our distinguished fellows below:

Gary F Stuart

Gary F. Stuart is a PhD researcher examining bias in police decision-making. An international executive leader, he manages a global advisory company specialising in smarter public safety and cities. A former senior police officer and accredited hostage, terrorist and crisis negotiator, his work bridges research, practice and innovation in public safety and decision science, with a passion for taking research and theory from the paper to the pavement.

Alex Paradise MSc FHEA

Alex Paradise is a safeguarding and public protection professional, currently working for the Church of England, Diocese of Derby. He extensive expertise in policing, criminal justice and online harms. A former specialist online child abuse investigator and academic involved in police education, he has led nationally recognised partnership initiatives, contributed to work on AI accountability in policing and is currently researching online child sexual exploitation and offending risk in relation to new and emerging digital technologies.

Dr. Manikandan Soundararajan

Dr. Soundararajan is a criminologist specialising in migration, social harm, policing, and organised crime. He holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Staffordshire, UK. His PhD explored the lived experiences of undocumented migrants and law enforcement officers in the West Midlands. He is Chair of the Postgraduate Committee at the British Society of Criminology and Founder and Executive Director of ThinkJustice Foundation, India. His research has been published in the British Journal of Criminology, Routledge Handbook of South Asian Criminology, and Policy Press.

Arsh Ganesan

Arsh G. serves as Campus Director (I/c) and Assistant Professor–Research (Criminology) at Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry Campus. A CPTED-certified professional, his expertise spans criminology, security studies, and crime prevention. He has led academic programs, developed curricula, and undertaken research in criminology, policing, victimology, and security governance, contributing to national capacity building in criminal justice and security studies.

Dr. Baidyanath Mukherjee

Dr. Mukherjee is an academic, practitioner, and researcher in international law, criminal justice, and police reforms. He currently serves as a Central Asian Legal Research Fellow at Tashkent State University of Law. He has edited three books, including a Scopus-indexed volume, published by globally reputed publishers such as Springer Nature and Taylor & Francis. His scholarly work appears in high-quality journals and edited collections, with several contributions recognised for advancing international law and technology scholarship.

Dr. Bhanu Prakash Nunna

Dr. Bhanu Prakash Nunna is a Visiting Fellow at
Centre d’études et de recherches internationales (CERIUM), Université de Montréal, Canada, Secretary-General of the World Society of Victimology and International Ambassador, British Society of Criminology. He is also
the Director of the Centre for Victimological Research and Victim Assistance at RV University, India. His work focuses on victim rights, access to justice, trauma-informed practices, victim support training, and technology-facilitated sexual violence.

Dr. Navtika Singh Nautiyal

Dr. Nautiyal is an academic, practitioner, and researcher in criminal Law, Law and Technology and Human Rights. She currently serves as a Central Asian Legal Research Fellow at Tashkent State University of Law and a Research Fellow at Nelson Mandala University, South Africa. She has edited four books, including a Scopus-indexed book, published by globally reputed publishers such as Rutledge and Thomson Reuters. Dr Nautiyal has delivered more than 75 keynote addresses, workshops, and lectures on contemporary issues of law, Management, legal research, and communication skills.
